media work

One of the main ways MAGMH works to combat stigma and prejudice towards people with experience of mental illness is by building relations with the media, whether they are print-based or local radio. Personal testimonies by members of the Media Action Group (a selection of which can be accessed below) are an excellent means of getting accurate, realistic and positive images of people who live with mental ill health into the public domain. All personal testimonies are given by members who have already completed the media skills training course, and are therefore well-prepared to talk to the media. Each interview is complemented by a more general overview of the type of mental ill health discussed from a personal angle.
